5 Popular Skincare Trends for 2024

Now that we are in the second month of 2024, I thought it would be a good idea to check out what the most popular skincare trends are for 2024. Let's introduce in no particular order.

Skin Cycling:

This is not your skin riding a bike, cycling, but instead you following nature's natural rhythms when it comes to skin care. Skin cycling has been gaining traction as a holistic approach to skincare and for good reason. Aligned with the natural renewal phases of the skin, this trend tailors skincare routines to support cellular birth, migration, maturation, exfoliation, and regeneration. It's all about harmonizing your routine with the dynamic dance of your skin's cycles.

Skinimalism:

The 'less is more' philosophy is making waves in skincare through the trend of skinimalism. Stripping down elaborate routines, skinimalism encourages a simplified approach, focusing on essential products that cater to individual skin needs. It's about quality over quantity and embracing a mindful, minimalistic approach to skincare. At bogl, I love this approach as often times I find people are doing too much too often or using products not suited for the skin. To jump on this bandwagon, I've created a Skinimalist Kit which includes your choice of a cleanser, our Powerhouse peptide moisturizer, and your choice of SPF.

Slugging:

This Korean beauty secret was first revealed in 2021. The 'slugging' technique involves sealing in moisture with a thick layer of occlusive products like petroleum jelly or heavy-duty moisturizers. The result? Intensely hydrated and supple skin, making 'slugging' a go-to for those seeking a dewy complexion. If you want to have a more "holistic' approach to slugging and not use petroleum jelly, check out a video I did.

Tech-Driven Skincare:

Ever see someone with a red-looking Jason mask and wonder what they are doing? You might be looking at a LED mask designed to help the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The use of smart skincare tools, such as facial rollers, LED masks, and AI-driven product recommendations, are empowering individuals to take their skincare routines to the next level, all from the comfort of their homes.

Retinol Alternatives:

Retinol has long been hailed as a powerful anti-aging ingredient, but not everyone's skin tolerates it well. Enter the trend of retinol alternatives. Products featuring bakuchiol, peptides, and other innovative ingredients offer gentler options for those seeking effective anti-aging without the potential side effects of traditional retinoids. Here at bogl, we use retinyl propionate.a gentle and effective form of vitamin A in our product. When retinyl propionate is combined it with niacinamide (vitamin B) such as in our A Game serum, you get a much more gentle, stable and bioavailable product for the skin. But make no mistake, it's still powerful!

As we embark on a new year, use one or more of these five skincare trends of 2024 to shape your skincare routine. Whether you're drawn to the hydrating allure of slugging, the rhythmic dance of skin cycling, or the simplicity of skinimalism, the key is to find a routine that resonates with your unique skin needs. Embrace these trends, celebrate diversity, and let your skin glow with the confidence of a beauty trendsetter in 2024.
